Yes, our service is legitimate. All our certificates are assessed and approved by an AHPRA registered medical practitioner, making them legal documents with the same validity as those obtained through in-person clinics. Additionally, we may recommend an in-person consultation if we believe your condition requires physical examination.
-

You will need to choose the kind of certificate you need (sick note for yourself or a carer’s note) and choose the price you willing to pay (depending on the speed of response). Then, once you’ve made a payment, fill out the application form and hit SUBMIT. If you do not hit SUBMIT, your payment would have gone through but we would not receive a request for a certificate. In this case, you will not receive your medical certificate. Please ensure you fill in all details correctly and take your time to do it, as medical certificates that have been issued cannot be amended in most cases.
-
We don't provide backdated certificates because we can't verify past illnesses without a consultation. To obtain a valid backdated certificate, visit your local GP who can issue one after assessing your condition during a consultation.
-
It is still possible to get a medical for an illness in the past (or if you were caring for someone ill in the past). However, this has to be done via telehealth or face to face consultation with a GP. You can visit any one of our doctors at haleroadmnedical.com or alternatively book an appointment to visit your GP at the earliest. With more days lapsed, you will not be able to get a certificate.

Unfortunately, the details on the Doctors Note cannot be changed once the certificate has been issued.

Yes. You may apply for a carer’s certificate dated the current date you intend it for or for the next day.
It's possible to receive a medical certificate that covers recent (past) days, but certain conditions apply, subject to a doctor's assessment. At Doctor's Note, we can't determine your situation without a consultation, and we adhere to AHPRA guidelines, so we can't provide backdated certificates. For a backdated certificate, consider visiting your GP with relevant information about the person you were caring for.

In Australia, medical certificates are formal documents provided by qualified healthcare professionals, such as doctors or pharmacists, to verify an employee's inability to work due to illness or injury. These certificates serve as acceptable evidence when an employee takes sick or carer’s leave.
Employer's Right to Request Evidence:
Under the Fair Work Act 2009, employers can request evidence for any period of sick or carer’s leave, even as short as one day. The evidence must convince a reasonable person that the leave was taken for legitimate reasons. Acceptable forms of evidence include medical certificates and statutory declarations.
Content of a Medical Certificate:
According to the Australian Medical Association (AMA) guidelines, a valid medical certificate should include:
The employee's name and date of birth.
The date the certificate was issued.
The name and signature of the issuing medical professional.
A statement confirming the employee's unfitness for work due to illness or injury.
The specific dates the employee is unfit for work.
Employers should not expect a diagnosis on the medical certificate, as employees have a right to confidentiality. However, with the employee's consent, the medical professional can provide more details about the illness or injury.
Online Medical Certificates:
Online medical certificates, issued through telehealth services, are legally recognized in Australia, provided they are issued by a registered healthcare professional following a proper assessment. Employers are generally expected to accept these certificates; however, some may prefer in-person consultations. It's advisable to check your employer's specific policies regarding the acceptance of online medical certificates.
Employee Obligations:
Employees are required to inform their employer of their absence as soon as possible and provide the necessary evidence if requested. Failure to provide appropriate evidence may result in the employee not being entitled to paid sick or carer's leave.
Employer Considerations:
Employers should accept medical certificates at face value and should not contact the employee's doctor except to clarify points. They cannot refuse to pay an employee for sick leave if a valid medical certificate is provided, even if the certificate does not state the reason for the employee's illness.
For more detailed information, the Fair Work Ombudsman provides comprehensive guidelines on notice and medical certificates.
